16 Nov

In this busy age, both new and mature businesses appreciate a “one-stop” creative source for their marketing needs, so Vann Baker of Design-First created a customer friendly business.  His eStore website, offers affordable solutions for graphic design, website design, printing and marketing needs.   New and experienced clients quickly discover that there is a live person at the other end, where Vann offers a welcome ear to listen to their story, and design the right marketing solutions for their business.

Vann started out with a six year apprenticeship in the printing industry, while he acquired his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  Specializing in graphic design, Van soon developed a keen eye and ear focused on the evolution of technology around him.  The results proved to be beneficial.  He successfully built his first website in 1995 even before there were any “how to” books available on the subject.

Vann’s previous company Design, ETC (1987 to 1996), had a primary focus on corporate collateral needs. Then in 2000, Vann decided to combine his graphic creativity and his web experience, successfully founding Design-First in 2003.

Design-First provides Vann with the perfect forum to express his passion, creating marketing solutions for businesses of all sizes.  He takes the time to personally understand your business ideas, then offers you  excellent and affordable solutions that work, with your business objectives and budget in mind.  Vann juggles his artistically creative business talents with your business target and budget.  Give him a call……… by Positive Public Image

Fall Conversations About a Rising Economy

10 Nov

On a beautiful fall day earlier this week in downtown Duluth, Sheri and I met up with Jim Johnson of JMS Consulting.  We three took some time to talk with Grey Eaton and Mary Ann Sanders, co-owners of Focal Point Kitchens and Baths.  As we shared coffee and scrumptious baked thingamabobs at Tye Dye 4, we chatted about Grey’s and Mary Ann’s business, and the positive direction of Duluth.

…..

In our ongoing conversations with business owners, city officials and local residents regarding today’s challenging and changing economic environment, we see a common thread:

  • Even though businesses have valued products and services, lower than desired sales restrict budgets. The question is how do you attract more clients, remain current and relevant, and maintain a positive public image with a restricted budget?

The recent successes of the Duluth Fall Festival and of the October Duluth Merchants Association/Kiwanis Fundraiser Event, both offer practical solutions: businesses within a community can work together to share common expenses such as advertising and business promotion. In this model, local businesses find synergy, customers find competitive prices, and the community rides the wave of a rising economy.   We expect to see more of this in the coming days.

As part of the PPI business model, promoting positive people, businesses, places and events, Sheri and I will continue to do our part, meeting and promoting local business owners within our community.  And as always, we will publish the positive results…….by Positive Public Image, Inc.
